Senegal crushes Iraq with a clean five-goal victory.
Iraq's national team officially bid farewell to the 2026 World Cup in football with a painful and heavy third loss against Senegal, 0-5, on Friday in Toronto, in a match that they played with ten men from the 13th minute.
After Habib Diallo opened the scoring (4), defender Riben Solaka was sent off (13), and then Iraq collapsed in the second half, conceding four goals from Ismaïla Sarr (56), Bamba Dieng (59, 71), and Iliman Ndiaye (82), ensuring Senegal's first victory. They will have to wait for the results of the remaining matches in the third round to know their fate and whether they will advance to the Round of 32 as one of the best eight third-placed teams.
This is Iraq's second participation in the World Cup after 1986, knowing that they lost their opening match against Norway 1-4 and then against France 0-3, in a group topped by France with a big win over Norway 4-1.
