Ivory Coast continues in the World Cup.
The Ivory Coast national team qualified for the Round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup, held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, after defeating the CuraƧao national team 2-0 in the third round of Group E.
The Ivorian team raised its points to six, securing second place in the group, qualifying based on the direct encounter behind the German team, which finished the group stage with a loss to Ecuador in the match that took place at the same time.
On the other hand, the CuraƧao national team exited the tournament after their points remained at one, finishing in fourth and last place in their first-ever participation in the World Cup finals.
Nicolas PƩpƩ opened the scoring for the Ivorian team in the seventh minute, recording the fastest goal for Ivory Coast in its World Cup history, surpassing the previous record held by his teammate Franck KessiƩ, who scored against Germany in the last round in the thirtieth minute.
PƩpƩ returned in the 64th minute to add the second goal for himself and his national team, thus equaling the record for the top historical scorers for Ivory Coast in the World Cup, alongside Didier Drogba, Aruna Dindane, Wilfried Bony, and Gervinho.
