Koeman: Facing Morocco or Brazil in the knockout stages will be complicated.
Dutch coach Ronald Koeman expressed his appreciation for the level the Moroccan national team is showing in the 2026 World Cup, confirming that he does not see a clear advantage for Brazil over the "Atlas Lions" if either team faces his country in the knockout stages.
Koeman stated in media remarks that he has no preference regarding the next opponent for the Netherlands, explaining: "Both are strong teams, and I don't see Brazil as stronger than Morocco because they drew in the match they played against each other in the first round... Regardless of the opponent, it will be a tough match."
The Moroccan national team continues its battle with Brazil for the top spot in Group C, having raised its points tally to four after winning against Scotland 1-0, while the Brazilian team has the same points, with a better goal difference, before the final round of the group stage.
The Moroccan team will face Haiti in the third and final round, while Brazil will meet Scotland, with both matches determining the identity of the group leader and runner-up.
Finishing at the top of the group is particularly important for the "Atlas Lions," as the leader of Group C will face the second-placed team from Group F, which includes the Netherlands, Sweden, Japan, and Tunisia, with the match scheduled for June 29 in Houston, USA.
If the Moroccan team settles for second place, it will meet the leader of Group F in the Round of 32, in a match scheduled for June 30 in Monterrey, Mexico.
