Moroccan runner Soufiane El Bakkali continued his strong start this season, achieving his third consecutive victory in the Diamond League, after securing first place in the 3000 meters steeplechase during the Doha meeting, which took place on Friday in the Qatari capital.
El Bakkali completed the race in a time of 8 minutes, 9 seconds, and 28 hundredths, ahead of Ethiopian Samuel Tefera, who finished the race with a time of 8 minutes, 10 seconds, and 44 hundredths, while Spanish runner Daniel Arce came in third with a time of 8 minutes, 13 seconds, and 35 hundredths.
El Bakkali had previously won the races in Rabat and Stockholm, and he recorded the best world time this season in Morocco, completing the same distance in 7 minutes, 57 seconds, and 25 hundredths.
In the sprint events, South African Sinothando Dambile won the 200 meters race, recording a new personal best of 19 seconds and 74 hundredths, while Zimbabwean Makana Kachisi Charamba came in second with a time of 19 seconds and 88 hundredths, matching his personal best in his career, while Dominican Alexander Ogando finished third after completing the race in 19 seconds and 96 hundredths.
In the women's triple jump, Senegalese athlete Sally Sarr improved her personal record after recording a jump of 14.86 meters, finishing in third place in the Doha competition.
She finished behind the two Cubans, Daislaidi Velasco, who won the competition and achieved the best world performance this season with a jump of 15.13 meters, and Lianis Pérez Hernández, who took second place.
In the women's 100 meters race, Jamaican Kimba Nelson secured first place with a time of 10 seconds and 88 hundredths, achieving her first victory in the Diamond League competitions.
In the women's 1500 meters race, Ethiopian Biruk Heilum dominated the race, securing first place with a time of 3 minutes, 59 seconds, and 89 hundredths, confirming her superiority after her previous win in Shanghai.
