Brazilian media: Morocco is troubling the giants.
CNN Brazil confirmed that the Moroccan national team has become one of the prominent rising powers in global football, noting that the "Atlas Lions" are now capable of competing with top teams and disrupting their plans in the 2026 World Cup.
The Brazilian channel explained in a report dedicated to the development of Moroccan football that the performance displayed by the national team against Brazil at the start of their World Cup journey, which ended in a draw, reflects the status Morocco has achieved on the international stage, having transformed into a real competitor for major teams.
The same source added that the current generation, led by captain Achraf Hakimi, is experiencing one of the best periods in the history of Moroccan football, recalling the historic achievement in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, when the national team reached the semi-finals and finished fourth in the world.
The report highlighted that the Moroccan football renaissance was not a coincidence, but rather the result of a long-term strategy that began in 2010, which included significant investments in infrastructure and training centers, foremost among them the Mohammed VI Football Academy.
The channel emphasized the pivotal role played by the academy in nurturing talent, by combining sports training with academic achievement, alongside providing the latest medical and scientific resources to support the development of players.
CNN Brazil also praised the policy of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation in attracting talents from the Moroccan diaspora abroad, a strategy that has resulted in the inclusion of several outstanding players who were trained in top European clubs, including Brahim Diaz, Ayoub Bouaddi, and Ismail Sabari.
The report concluded by affirming that the investments made in Moroccan football in recent years are beginning to bear clear fruit, citing the results achieved at various levels, including fourth place in the 2022 World Cup, winning the Under-20 World Cup, and earning a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, which reinforces Morocco's position as a rising football power on the international stage.
