The United States secured its qualification for the Round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup, which it is hosting in partnership with Mexico and Canada, after defeating Australia 2-0 on Friday in the second round of Group D.
The United States became the second team to qualify for the knockout stage after Mexico from Group A, ahead of its third match against Turkey, which will face Paraguay later.
Cameron Burgess scored the first goal by accident (11) and Alex Freeman doubled the score (43), giving his country victory in its first two matches in the finals for the first time since the inaugural edition in 1930.
