Lawyers react to the Hakimi case.

The Moroccan Bar Association has intervened in the rapid developments surrounding the case of Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi, condemning what it described as a systematic media campaign against the player, and announcing the formation of an immediate vigilance committee to monitor the case and ensure conditions for a fair trial that respects the judicial process and the presumption of innocence, especially since the right-back of the national team has been facing this ongoing pressure for more than two years during sensitive periods coinciding with his international football commitments.

The association stated in a press release that the indictment against the player lacks sufficient evidence and raises many questions, especially in light of the absence of an official complaint or direct testimony confirming the incident, hinting at the possibility of extortion that will become clearer during the trial proceedings, while emphasizing that fame and success should not become a tool for pressure or exploitation and the issuance of preemptive condemnations outside the courts.

These human rights movements come after the Versailles Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the investigating judge to refer the Moroccan star to the regional criminal court of Hauts-de-Seine, rejecting the appeal submitted by the defense. The court's investigation chamber stated that the preliminary investigations and inquiries revealed sufficient evidence requiring Hakimi to appear before the criminal court to resolve the indictment against him.

In his first reaction to this judicial development, Achraf Hakimi broke his long silence through a post on the "X" platform, expressing his strong anticipation and readiness for the trial he has awaited since day one to voice his side and reveal the truth, indicating that he has become an easy target for a story he has no connection to, and relaying that the judiciary confronted him with a clear statement indicating that if it weren't for his fame, there would be no case at all.

The chapters of this case date back to February 2023, when security services opened a judicial investigation that ended with Hakimi being placed under judicial supervision, based on the statements of a 24-year-old girl whom he met through the "Instagram" platform and who visited him at his home, accusing him of assaulting her without her consent, a claim that the player has consistently denied throughout the investigation, considering it a false accusation seeking the truth to refute it.
