Mohamed Wahbi, the coach of the Moroccan national football team, emphasized the need to maintain focus and not get carried away by the atmosphere of optimism after the first match in the 2026 World Cup, confirming that the situation of the group requires the "Atlas Lions" to continue working before facing Scotland.

Wahbi stated during the press conference preceding the match that the Moroccan team still needs to achieve a positive result to enhance its chances of qualifying for the next round, adding: "It is enough to look at the standings to know that we are not in a position that allows us to continue feeling euphoric. What we did was good, but it remains within the limits of what we know how to do, and I believe we are capable of doing better."

The national coach confirmed that the technical staff is focused on improving the team's performance from one match to another, pointing out that the goal during the match against Scotland is to present a better face, despite the difficulty of the opponent and the value of the challenge.

In discussing the limited attacking efficiency that accompanied the team during periods of the last match, Wahbi clarified that this is not only related to the work done in training but also to the tactical choices and the technical characteristics of the players used, adding: "We have worked on this aspect, but effectiveness is not only related to training. Sometimes it depends on the players on the field and the nature of the roles they perform."

The national coach mentioned that a clear style of play helps players adapt to the roles required of them, noting that building harmony among the players takes time, especially when some players occupy positions different from those they are used to playing in with their clubs.

He added: "There are details that require time to develop, whether in terms of movements or understanding between players. Some players do not yet have all the references related to the positions they occupy within the national team, which is natural."
