Scotland's coach is wary of Morocco.
Scottish national team coach Steve Clarke warned of the difficulty of the upcoming match against the Moroccan national team, confirming that the "Atlas Lions" represent a significant challenge in the World Cup.
Clarke stated that the Moroccan team they will face tomorrow, Friday, seems to him to be even better than the team that reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, adding: "I believe Morocco is a very strong team, having reached the semi-finals of the last World Cup. I feel that this team might be better than the Qatar version, which gives an idea of the difficulty of the task. They have strength, speed, and technical touches capable of opening up matches."
The coach continued: "For me, they are the real team, a top-class national team. We will need to be at our best to compete with them in tomorrow's match."
The Scottish coach added that he expects to face an opponent that will dominate possession, saying: "We expect them to have greater ball possession, and we need to be decisive when we have it," noting the possibility of adopting a three-defender plan since "Scotland is capable of adapting to play with various systems depending on the nature of the match."
Clarke explained that the Scotland team feels more comfortable when they are not favored to win, adding: "Sometimes our mentality is more relaxed when we are not the favorites. We were favored against Haiti and faced difficulties, but we won. This time we are not the favorites, and that might be better for us."
The Moroccan national team will face their Scottish counterparts tomorrow, Friday, at Boston's stadium, starting at 6 PM local time in the United States, and 11 PM Moroccan time, as part of the second round of the group stage in the 2026 World Cup finals.
The "Atlas Lions" began their World Cup journey with a draw against Brazil, with a score of 1-1, while the Scottish national team achieved a hard-fought victory over Haiti, making Friday's match highly significant in the race for qualification to the next round.
