The Qatari national team suffers a heavy defeat against Canada with a score of six to zero.
Qatar, with a reduced number of players, suffered a crushing defeat in its second appearance at the 2026 World Cup, falling to Canada 0-6, led by the outstanding striker Jonathan David, who scored a hat-trick, the second in the World Cup after the Argentine legend Lionel Messi, on Thursday at BC Place in Vancouver during the second round of Group B.
The six goals for the hosts were scored by Kyle Larin (16), Jonathan David (29, 45+3, and 90+2), and substitutes Nathan Saliba (64) and Mohamed Muna'i (75, own goal).
Canada topped Group B with four points, ahead on goal difference from Switzerland, which defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1 earlier, bringing both teams significantly closer to securing the two qualification spots against third-placed Bosnia and fourth-placed Qatar, which has one point.
Qatar finished the match with nine players after the red cards for Hammam Al-Amin (33) and Asem Madbou (51).
