Shadi Riyad reveals his World Cup ambitions.
Moroccan international Shadi Riyad confirmed in an interview published by the Spanish sports newspaper "AS" on Wednesday that the Moroccan national football team aims to win the 2026 World Cup.
The Crystal Palace defender explained that the "Atlas Lions" are entering the current edition of the World Cup with great ambitions and a strong will to achieve their first global title in history, noting that the national team continues to develop thanks to the quality of its players and the growth of their experience.
The 22-year-old player said, "Our goal today within the group is to win the World Cup, and there is no other goal," adding that "not believing in our ability to achieve that means that no one will believe in us."
Shadi Riyad described his first participation in the World Cup finals as "a dream come true," affirming that representing the national team is one of the greatest sources of pride in his football career.
He added, "Representing the national team is what I love most about football. Competing in the World Cup is exceptional."
In response to a question about the teams favored to win the title, he confirmed that the "Atlas Lions" are focusing on their own goals, adopting an approach based on good preparation for each match individually.
Riyad, who was trained at FC Barcelona and also played for Real Betis, praised the continuous support that the Moroccan national team receives from its fans, considering them among the most passionate in the world.
