My greetings: The Jordan national team is ready to face Austria.
Moroccan coach Jamal Salami, the head coach of the Jordanian national football team, confirmed that Jordan's participation in the 2026 World Cup is a matter of glory and history, while also indicating that the team is ready for this global challenge.
The Jordanian team, participating in the World Cup for the first time, will kick off its journey in the global tournament currently being held in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, with a match against the Austrian team this evening, Tuesday local time, in the first round of Group 10 of the group stage, which also includes the teams of Argentina (the world champion) and Algeria.
Salami stated in a press conference held on Monday evening local time that the match against the Austrian team will be tough, and that "the most important thing is to have a positive start."
The Moroccan coach added that there is always a fear of the beginning, especially with the players' lack of experience in dealing with such major events, but he affirmed that the players' abilities and qualifications allow them to cope with that.
Salami emphasized that the Jordanian team is ready to play the match against Austria at a strong level, saying: "The matches that the Arab teams have played are very motivating for us, for sure, because their results are encouraging, and they have been competitive with the teams they played against from various styles, all of this contributes to the positive motivations for the Jordanian players to perform well."
The Jordanian coach explained that the Austrian team is one of the best teams, and that their style of play is very good, while Salami revealed that the Jordanian team has its own style of play, while the Austrian team also has weaknesses.
Salami continued: "We are preparing well for the next match to give our best, we came to the World Cup to learn, enjoy, and give everything we can," and he clarified that the presence of the Jordanian team in the World Cup is the result of perseverance and hard work over the years, and he confirmed that the Jordanian team's style of play is what led them to qualify for the World Cup, and that "the way of playing cannot be changed."
