Hervé Renard joins Tunisia in the World Cup.
The Tunisian Football Federation has dismissed coach Sabri Lamouchi and appointed Frenchman Hervé Renard in his place until the end of the World Cup in North America, according to the official television announcement.
Lamouchi's dismissal came after the heavy defeat that the "Eagles of Carthage" suffered against Sweden, losing 1-5 last Sunday in Monterrey, in the first round of Group Six matches.
The president of the Tunisian Federation, Moez Nasri, said in a phone call with the Tunisian television envoy in Monterrey that an official agreement has been reached with Renard, the former coach of the Saudi national team, "to take over the management of the Tunisian national football team for the remainder of its journey in the 2026 World Cup."
He added that Renard, who previously coached the Moroccan national team in the "Russia 2018" World Cup, will arrive today, Tuesday, in Monterrey to begin the first training session with the "Eagles of Carthage," noting that "the mutual agreement to terminate the contractual relationship with Lamouchi has been reached; he has left the residence of the Tunisians in Mexico."
