The Tunisian national team kicked off its seventh participation in the World Cup in a disappointing manner, falling to their Swedish counterparts with a score of 5-1, this Monday morning at the Monterrey stadium in Mexico, as part of the sixth group matches.
The Swedish team took the lead early with a goal from their midfielder of Tunisian descent, Yassine Ayari, in the seventh minute, before Liverpool striker Alexander Isak added the second goal in the 30th minute.
Omar Raqiq managed to reduce the deficit for the Tunisian team in the 43rd minute, but Arsenal's top scorer Viktor Gyökeres restored the two-goal lead by scoring the third goal in the 59th minute. In the 88th minute, substitute Mattias Svanberg added the fourth goal, before Ayari returned to conclude the five-goal tally with his second personal goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
With this victory, the Swedish team, led by their English coach Graham Potter, topped Group Six with three points, benefiting from the earlier draw between the Netherlands and Japan, which ended 2-2.
