"Kaf" celebrates the resilience of the Moroccan national team.
The official website of the Confederation of African Football confirmed that the Moroccan national team continued to establish its position as one of the rising powers in global football, after drawing 1-1 with the Brazilian national team in the opening of its campaign in Group C of the 2026 World Cup.
The "CAF" website noted that the "Atlas Lions" delivered a strong performance against the five-time world champion Brazilian team, facing them with great competitiveness in terms of strength, organization, and ambition, earning a valuable point against one of the top contenders for the title, in a match held at MetLife Stadium with a large audience in attendance.
The report clarified that Morocco, four years after its historic achievement as the first African team to reach the World Cup semifinals, confirmed that it is no longer just a fleeting success story, but has become a team capable of competing with the world's elite thanks to its strong character and consistent performance.
The website highlighted the Moroccan goal that came in the 21st minute, considering it a reflection of the quality of the attacking work of the "Atlas Lions," after Ibrahim Diaz provided a brilliant pass that penetrated the Brazilian defense, before Ismail Sabiri exploited the space and calmly scored against goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
The report also praised the performance of the Moroccan midfield, led by Ayoub Bouaddi, alongside Noussair Mazraoui and Diaz, confirming that the trio gave Morocco control at the start of the match thanks to their calm possession and intelligent pressing when losing the ball.
The "CAF" website added that Brazil managed to equalize thanks to a standout individual moment from Vinicius Junior, who scored the equalizer in the 32nd minute, but the Moroccan team maintained its balance and continued to threaten the opponent's goal.
In the second half, despite the pressure and relative control from the Brazilian team, the report stated that Morocco did not abandon its attacking ambition, as the referee disallowed a goal by Sabiri for offside, while Yassine Bounou continued to affirm his status as one of the best goalkeepers in the world with crucial interventions against attempts from Raphinha and Lucas Paquetá.
