The Moroccan national team is pursuing tactical efficiency in the opening of the "2026 World Cup" journey.
The changes that the official lineup of the Moroccan national team participating in the 2026 World Cup has undergone raise wide questions about their impact on the "playing tactics" adopted by Wahbi's teammates against Brazil.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation confirmed in a statement yesterday, Friday, that the medical examinations conducted on Zlzouli revealed that he suffered a sprain in his right knee accompanied by a tear in the internal lateral ligament, an injury that requires a long period of treatment and rehabilitation, which will prevent him from participating in the World Cup.
Regarding Nayef Aguerd, the same source clarified that the player has made significant progress in his recovery phase over the past weeks; however, the remaining time before the competitions is not sufficient for him to fully regain his physical and competitive readiness.
Sports critic Tarek Taliani stated that "there is a clear difference between the Moroccan national team's bench in the 2022 World Cup and that of 2026 in terms of available options; previously, the substitute player would come in to replace the starter without the observer feeling any gap or difference in performance."
Currently, Taliani adds to Hespress, "it is evident in this version of the national team, when comparing the substitute players with the starting players, that there is a lack of that usual level, as is the case with Zlzouli's position, raising the question of who has the actual ability to fill his void."
The same speaker continued that "replacing a player like Zlzouli requires a substitute who possesses his speed, dribbling skills, football intelligence, as well as his vision and thinking on the field, so that the opponent cannot predict his decision, whether to pass, shoot at the goal, or return the ball backward."
The sports critic questioned whether there is a single player among the summoned names who has the qualifications to fill this gap, affirming that "national coach Mohamed Wahbi is fully aware of this matter and will try to adjust his technical strategy accordingly to deal with this situation against Brazil."
