Rugby sevens postpones continental competition.
The Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation confirmed the postponement of the African Rugby Sevens Championship for men, which was scheduled to take place in Mauritius, by a decision from the African Rugby Union.
The federation clarified, in a statement, that the decision to postpone was based on recommendations from the relevant health authorities, and as part of precautionary measures aimed at ensuring the safety of all participants, including players, technical staff, referees, officials, and fans.
The same source confirmed that no cases of the Ebola virus have been reported in Mauritius, emphasizing that this measure is part of the prevention and caution policy adopted by the relevant authorities, and is not related to any confirmed infections in the host country.
The Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation also highlighted that this is a postponement of the competition only and not a cancellation, noting that the African Rugby Union will announce new dates for the championship at a later time.
The federation concluded its statement by affirming its commitment to continue monitoring developments regarding this issue, while ensuring that all members of the national rugby family are kept informed of all updates related to the upcoming African championship.
