The university reveals the health status of the lions.
After extensive debate regarding the lack of official information about the health status of several players, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has ended the anticipation that accompanied the national team's preparations for the 2026 World Cup, announcing the absence of Abdessamad Ezzalzouli and Nayef Aguerd from the tournament due to injury, while calling up Amin Sebaai and Marouane Saadan to replace them in the final list of the "Atlas Lions."
The federation confirmed in a statement issued today, Friday, that the medical examinations conducted on Ezzalzouli revealed that he suffered a sprain in his right knee accompanied by a tear in the medial collateral ligament, an injury that requires a long period of treatment and rehabilitation, preventing him from participating in the World Cup.
Regarding Nayef Aguerd, the statement clarified that the player has made significant progress in his recovery phase over the past weeks; however, the remaining time before the competitions begins is insufficient for him to fully regain his physical and competitive readiness.
Based on the medical reports, national coach Mohamed Wahbi decided to call up Amin Sebaai and Marouane Saadan to join the final list of 26 players, after they were part of the reserve list during the last preparatory camp.
The federation emphasized that the overall health status of the team members remains reassuring, noting that most players continue their preparations under normal conditions according to the planned program in anticipation of the global competition.
The federation concluded its statement by confirming the ongoing monitoring of the health status of the injured players, expressing its wishes for a speedy recovery for Ezzalzouli and Aguerd, and stressing that their absence from the finals does not diminish their status within the group, which is preparing to participate in a global event that Moroccan fans hope will be a remarkable participation.
