The levels of Morocco and Brazil are similar.
The former Moroccan international Salah Eddine Bessir confirmed that the national team possesses the technical and human qualities that qualify it to compete with the Brazilian team in the 2026 World Cup finals, considering that self-confidence, tactical discipline, and mental focus will be crucial elements to achieve a positive result against one of the most successful teams in the history of football.
Bessir explained, in a statement to the Moroccan News Agency, that the Brazilian team remains one of the top global teams and includes high-level players; however, it is currently undergoing a transitional phase characterized by the infusion of new blood and gradual renewal within its ranks, noting that the current team differs from the one Morocco faced in the 1998 World Cup in France.
He added that this fact does not diminish Brazil's technical value, but it requires the Moroccan team to approach the match with the utmost focus and discipline, especially given the significant closeness that now characterizes the levels of major teams on the international stage.
The former national team star considered that Morocco's ranking in seventh place globally in the FIFA rankings, behind Brazil in sixth place, reflects the extent of development that Moroccan football has achieved in recent years and confirms the position that the "Atlas Lions" now occupy among the top teams.
Bessir affirmed that Moroccan fans have high hopes for the current generation of players, given the mix of experience and youth it possesses, in addition to the extensive experience that several of its members have accumulated in major European and global tournaments.
The former Moroccan star explained that the Moroccan team is in a strong group that includes Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti, but it has the capabilities to compete for one of the two qualification spots for the next round, emphasizing that many current players have gained significant experience in major competitions, while some will participate in the World Cup for the second or third time, which gives the group more maturity and the ability to handle the pressure of crucial matches.
Regarding the Scottish team, Bessir pointed out that the match will not be easy, given that it has experienced players active in the strongest European leagues, considering that achieving a positive result in this match could be an important step towards reaching the next round.
As for the Haitian team, the former Moroccan international believed that it has qualities that require serious handling, emphasizing that he would have preferred this match to be the opening of Morocco's journey in the finals. He added that the Haitian team plays modern football and possesses respectable offensive capabilities, having qualified for the World Cup by topping its group and achieving notable results in its preparatory matches, including a 4-0 victory over New Zealand.
