Survey: World Cup Apathy in America
A survey conducted by "Morning Consult" research company revealed that the majority of Americans do not intend to follow the World Cup matches, which will take place in several American cities.
The survey showed that 55 percent of participants are unlikely to watch the tournament matches, while 13 percent confirmed that they will definitely watch them, and 32 percent said they are likely to watch the matches to varying degrees.
The survey also indicated that Americans under the age of 45 are more interested in the tournament, while the percentage of those who do not intend to follow the matches among those over 60 years old is about 59 percent.
Bloomberg, which requested the survey, mentioned that the limited interest in the tournament may be partly due to a lack of knowledge about it; only a quarter of participants said they had sufficient information about it, while about 40 percent reported that they had not encountered any information related to it.
Participants considered the high ticket prices and the strict immigration policy ahead of the tournament as some of the most significant negative aspects associated with it.
The survey was conducted between May 20 and 22, with the participation of about two thousand people.
