A Spanish report praises the skills of the sneaky.
The Spanish newspaper "Sport" highlighted Moroccan international Bilal El Khannous, considering him one of the most prominent names likely to shine in the 2026 World Cup, confirming that the Moroccan national team has found in the German Stuttgart player a new "number 10" capable of leading the dreams of the "Atlas Lions" on the global stage.
The newspaper pointed out that El Khannous has undergone a significant transformation in recent months, as just a year ago he was preparing to leave Leicester City following the team's relegation to the English Championship, before Stuttgart successfully signed him on loan for about three million euros, and then decided to activate the permanent purchase clause in a deal valued at around 15 million euros.
The same outlet confirmed that the 22-year-old Moroccan player managed to translate his great talent into tangible numbers in the German league, finishing his first season with Stuttgart by scoring nine goals and providing seven assists in 41 matches across all competitions; which raised his market value to about 35 million euros.
"Sport" noted that El Khannous has never been an ordinary player, as he caught attention from his early days with Genk in Belgium, before continuing to develop with Leicester City despite the difficult circumstances faced by the English club; later confirming his position in the Bundesliga, which the newspaper described as the ideal environment for developing young talents.
The Spanish newspaper added that the star of the Moroccan national team is not only distinguished by his technical skills and playmaking ability; he also possesses the characteristics of a modern midfielder, through his great mobility, speed in transition, field vision, and ability to find solutions in tight spaces, along with his defensive contributions and continuous work off the ball.
The aforementioned media outlet considered that the 2026 World Cup comes at an ideal time for El Khannous, as he has accumulated much more experience compared to his first participation in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, where he played limited minutes in the third-place match against Croatia; whereas today he has become one of the key elements within the national team.
The same source also highlighted that the Moroccan player has gained greater importance within the "Atlas Lions" squad in recent years, especially after participating in all matches of the recent Africa Cup of Nations.
"Sport" pointed out that attention is now turning to how national coach Mohamed Wahbi will utilize him in the global finals.
