Ivory Coast defeats France.
The French national team, one of the top contenders for the 2026 World Cup, suffered a surprising friendly loss to Ivory Coast 1-2 on Thursday in the city of Nantes, just a week before the finals kick off in North America.
The French team opened the scoring through Manchester City player Rayan Cherki in the first half (46), before the Ivorian team managed to turn the result around in the second half.
Ivory Coast equalized in the 53rd minute through Gela Doué, before Amad Diallo, the Manchester United winger, scored the winning goal (84).
The match saw the French team field most of its key players, led by Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé and Bayern Munich winger Mikaël Oliseh.
France will play a second friendly match against Northern Ireland on the 8th of this month, before traveling to the United States to participate in the World Cup.
The French team is in Group 9 alongside Senegal, Iraq, and Norway, while Ivory Coast plays in Group 5 with Germany, Ecuador, and Curaçao.
