A deal launches the preparation of the Nador Grand Stadium.
The large stadium project in Nador has entered the actual implementation phase, following the launch of the initial works related to the preparation of the site that will host this major sports facility. This step reflects the accelerating pace of sports projects planned in the eastern region, within the context of the national dynamics aimed at developing sports infrastructure and enhancing its readiness to meet upcoming football events.
The "Al Omrane" company for the eastern region announced the opening of a call for tenders for the execution of the preparation and general plumbing works related to the project site. These works include excavation, backfilling, ground preparation, and equipping it to receive various facilities and installations planned within the project. The estimated cost of these works is around 41.438 million dirhams, while the envelopes for the bids submitted by competing companies are expected to be opened on June 24 at the provincial headquarters, in order to commence fieldwork.
The large stadium in Nador is among the most prominent sports projects that the eastern region is betting on in the coming years, considering what it is expected to provide in terms of modern infrastructure that meets the standards for organizing national and international sports events. The stadium is expected to be built on an area of approximately 18.58 hectares within the territorial jurisdiction of the Nador municipality, with a capacity of 20,000 spectators, equipped with modern technical facilities, covered stands, and facilities dedicated to athletes, the public, and the media.
The total cost of the project is about 358 million dirhams, reflecting the size of public investment directed towards developing sports facilities in the eastern region, which has been demanding major sports facilities capable of hosting matches and sports events under conditions that meet modern standards for the past few years. The stadium is also expected to serve as an additional lever for local development by creating job opportunities during the construction and operational phases, as well as stimulating the economic and service activities related to sports.
The launch of this project comes within the context of a wide national program to rehabilitate and construct stadiums and sports facilities across various regions of the kingdom, in preparation for the continental and international events that Morocco will host in the coming years, foremost among them the Africa Cup of Nations finals and the 2030 World Cup. The public authorities aim, through these projects, to enhance the kingdom's position as a sports destination capable of hosting the largest international events, while ensuring a balanced distribution of sports investments among different regions.
Local stakeholders are betting that the new stadium will contribute to enhancing the sports prominence of the Nador region and the eastern region in general, by providing a modern space capable of attracting major sports competitions and hosting public and cultural activities, in line with the developmental dynamics that the area is experiencing thanks to a series of strategic structural projects being implemented in recent years.
