The Iran national team receives visas for Mexico.
The Iranian national team has obtained entry visas to Mexico in preparation for the 2026 World Cup, according to the official Iranian television on Wednesday, citing the Islamic Republic's ambassador in Turkey where the players are located.
Ambassador Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh stated that "the visas for the Iranian players were issued within 48 hours, without their personal presence and without taking fingerprints at the Mexican embassy."
The Iranians are scheduled to play their first match against New Zealand on June 15 in the United States, which is co-hosting the tournament alongside Mexico and Canada.
However, the Iranian team has not yet obtained entry visas to the United States.
This situation has affected the organization and preparations, forcing the Iranians to move their training camp, which was planned in the American city of Tucson, to the Mexican city of Tijuana.
The Iranian team is expected to leave for Spain on Saturday before heading to Mexico, where it is anticipated to arrive on Sunday morning.
Before traveling, the "Team Melli" will play a preparatory match behind closed doors against Mali on Thursday in Antalya, Turkey.
In addition to New Zealand, Iran will face Belgium on June 21 and Egypt on June 27 as part of Group G.
