The time difference raises demands for administrative flexibility during the "Atlas Lions" matches.
As the Moroccan national team's participation in the World Cup approaches, voices are rising demanding the adjustment of working hours in administrations to align with the matches of the "Atlas Lions," which will take place in the evening.
In this regard, Abdel Rahman Al-Wafa, a parliamentary advisor from the Authenticity and Modernity Party, submitted a written question to the Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, recalling the national enthusiasm accompanying the Moroccan national team's participation in the 2026 World Cup finals.
Al-Wafa pointed out that the time difference with the host countries may cause some matches to be held late at night; thus, it is necessary to consider the circumstances of employees and workers eager to follow them.
The question inquired about the measures and procedures the ministry intends to take to accompany this global sporting event, and the possibility of adopting an exceptional and temporary administrative timing; such as delaying the start of work the day after late matches, in order to achieve a balance between the requirements of public service and ensuring the normal operation of services, while positively interacting with this national event.
Ali Lotfi, the Secretary-General of the Democratic Labor Organization (ODT), stated that "this issue concerns all components of the Moroccan people and is not limited to the working class, as it is difficult for everyone to follow these matches under the current work system due to the time difference; which requires a discussion on the matter."
Lotfi added, in a statement to Hespress, that the difficulty of adjusting the work system remains; however, an exceptional formula can be found only for a specific reason, which is exclusively the matches in which the Moroccan national team participates. As for other matches, the situation is different and does not require any change in the timing system.
