Senegal wins the African Youth Cup.
The Senegalese national team won the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations title after defeating the Tanzanian team in a penalty shootout (4-2), following a 1-1 draw at the end of regular time, today, at the Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, in the final match.
The first half started with a back-and-forth battle between the two sides, as both teams exchanged attacks in search of an early goal, with a slight advantage for the Tanzanian team.
In the seventh minute, the Tanzanian team managed to open the scoring through player Hamis Mehamba.
After the Tanzanian goal, the Senegalese pressed hard to equalize, but the Tanzanian team stood firm against the "Lions of Teranga," ending the first half with the Tanzanians leading by one goal to none.
In the second half, the Senegalese team entered with more aggression in hopes of scoring an early equalizer, while the Tanzanians adopted a defensive strategy and relied on counter-attacks.
After continuous pressure, the "Lions of Teranga" managed to level the score through player Ibrahima Dione in the 64th minute.
The remaining minutes of the match did not yield any notable changes, leading both teams to a penalty shootout that ended in favor of the Senegalese team with a score of 4 to 2.
It is worth noting that the Egyptian team finished the African competition in third place after defeating the Moroccan national team 2-0 in the placement match yesterday.
