After the loss to Egypt, the "Cub" team finishes the "Youth Africa Cup" in fourth place.
The Egyptian national football team for under 17 years old secured third place in the African U-17 Cup of Nations after defeating the Moroccan national team 2-0 this evening, in the ranking match to determine the third and fourth places, at the pitch number 8 in the Mohammed VI Football Complex.
Since the start of the first half, the "young lions" put strong pressure on the Egyptian team's goal in hopes of scoring an early goal to ease their task in the remaining stages of the match.
Against the run of play, the Egyptian team managed to open the scoring through player Mohamed El-Sayed in the 33rd minute with a quick counter-attack.
After the "Pharaohs" goal, the "young lions" launched consecutive attacks to at least equalize before the end of the first half, but haste was the main theme, ending the first half with the Egyptian team leading by one goal to none.
During the second half, the national team tried on several occasions to level the score, amidst a solid Egyptian defense, but the "young lions'" attempts bore no fruit. On the contrary, the Egyptians scored a second goal in stoppage time through Ahmed Bashir, allowing the Egyptian team to secure third place in the African U-17 Cup, while the Moroccan team finished in fourth place in the continental competition.
It is worth noting that the final match of the African U-17 Cup will take place tomorrow at 8 PM, between the teams of Senegal and Tanzania, at the Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat.
