Casemiro warns against over-expectations.
The Brazilian star Carlos Henrique Casemiro confirmed that the Brazil national team does not enter the 2026 World Cup finals among the favorites to win, pointing out that several teams have a clear advantage due to the stability of their technical projects and the continuity of their work over recent years.
These statements from the Brazil captain came after the big victory achieved by the "Seleção" over Panama with a score of 6-2 at the Maracanã Stadium, as part of their final preparations for the "World Cup," before playing their last friendly match against Egypt in Cleveland on June 6. The match saw Casemiro shine, contributing both in scoring and assisting alongside Vinícius Júnior, Lucas Paquetá, and Igor Thiago, while Ryan and Danilo also took turns scoring.
Since Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti took over the Brazilian national team in May 2025, the team has achieved six victories, two draws, and three defeats, a record that Casemiro believes still needs more time to reach full maturity.
The veteran midfielder explained that some competitors currently surpass Brazil in terms of technical stability, stating that the Brazilian team has quality and ambition, but is still at the beginning of its project with Ancelotti compared to teams that have made longer strides in building and development.
Opta's predictions place Brazil in sixth place among the top contenders for the World Cup title with a 6.6 percent chance, behind Spain, France, England, Argentina, and Portugal.
The Brazilian national team will begin its World Cup journey with a strong match against Morocco on June 13, followed by matches against Haiti and Scotland in Group C.
Despite the absence of the world title from Brazil's trophy cabinet since their last win in the "2002 World Cup," the "Seleção" remains the most successful team in the history of the tournament with five titles, and leads the list of teams with the most victories at a rate of 67 percent after 76 wins in 114 matches. The current generation hopes to end the longest period without a trophy since the beginning of the current century and restore the glory of Brazilian football on the global stage.
