"Black" matters.. a change in the Scotland squad.
The Scottish Football Association officially announced the inclusion of Tyler Fletcher in the squad for the 2026 World Cup, to replace Billy Gilmour, the Napoli player, who has been confirmed to miss the tournament due to a knee injury sustained during the friendly match against Curacao.
Fletcher's call-up is a pleasant surprise for the young player, coming just after he made his debut with the senior Scottish national team, having played last Saturday against Curacao. He joins the national team's camp led by coach Steve Clarke just days before the start of the "World Cup."
Fletcher is 19 years old and is one of the most promising talents at Manchester United, where he has excelled this season and won the "Denzil Haroun" award for the best young player at the club.
The Scottish national team stated on its official account: "After confirming Billy Gilmour's injury, we can announce the addition of Tyler Fletcher (19 years old) to our squad for the 2026 World Cup, just one day after his debut with the team against Curacao. Welcome aboard the journey, Tyler."
Tyler Fletcher carries a distinguished football legacy, as he is the son of former Scottish international Darren Fletcher.
Scotland is expected to head to the United States in preparation for the World Cup, starting their campaign against Haiti on June 14, before facing Brazil and the Moroccan national team in the group stage.
