Morocco enters the history of global hockey.
The Royal Moroccan Ice Hockey Federation announced, on the sidelines of its participation in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF Annual Congress 2026), the first participation of the Moroccan national team in the Ice Hockey World Championship, scheduled to be held in Malaysia in April 2027, in a historic step that officially marks Morocco's entry into the global competitions of this sport.
This participation is a significant milestone in the development of ice hockey in Morocco, coming after years of work and preparation in terms of sports infrastructure and player training. It also reflects the efforts made by the federation to expand the base of practitioners and prepare a team capable of representing Morocco on the international stage.
The national team includes players who have been trained in Morocco across various age categories, along with members of the Moroccan community living abroad, who have gained experience in playing ice hockey in countries with established traditions in this sport, and have chosen to wear the national jersey and represent their homeland.
The World Championship in Malaysia is expected to be the first official test for the Moroccan team on the international stage, in an unprecedented event in the history of this sport in the kingdom. Regardless of the results the team achieves during the competitions, reaching this level of international presence represents an important sports achievement and signals a new phase in the journey of Moroccan ice hockey.
