Who is the top scorer in European leagues?
The German sports magazine "Kicker" announced today, Tuesday, that Harry Kane, the Bayern Munich striker, has won the Golden Shoe for the best scorer in European football leagues for the past season.
Kane topped the list with 72 points thanks to scoring 36 goals in the German Bundesliga, surpassing Norwegian Erling Haaland, a Manchester City player, who scored 27 goals in the Premier League to earn 54 points.
In third place was Frenchman Kylian Mbappé, the star of Real Madrid, who scored 27 goals in La Liga, accumulating 50 points.
The England national team captain has won this prestigious award for the second time, having first received it in 2024, noting that Harry Kane was the top scorer in the Bundesliga during his three seasons with Bayern Munich.
Players in the top five European leagues, which are England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France, receive two points for each goal due to the competitive strength of these leagues.
Players in leagues ranked from 6 to 22 receive only 1.5 points for each goal, while players in lower leagues receive one point for each goal.
Dion Beljo, a player for Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia, is the highest-ranked player from outside the top five European leagues, coming in fourth with 46.5 points thanks to scoring 31 goals.
