National teams' camps in the World Cup
The Argentine national team, the defending champions, will make Kansas City their base during the World Cup, according to the list of training camps announced by FIFA on Monday.
39 out of 48 participating teams will be based in the United States for the global football event starting next month, while seven teams will be in Mexico and two in Canada.
Haimo Scherji, the executive director of operations for the 2026 World Cup, said: “Team camps are an integral part of the fabric of any World Cup organized by FIFA. They are where teams put down their roots, train, recover, and live the daily rhythm of the tournament.”
Iran has been confirmed to have a camp in Tijuana, Mexico.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Monday that the country will allow Iran to base itself in Mexico to avoid U.S. visa restrictions.
Colombia, South Korea, Mexico, South Africa, Tunisia, and Uruguay will also have their bases in Mexico, while Canada and Panama will be in Canada, and the rest of the teams will settle in locations within the United States.
