"The Atlas Cubs reach the semifinals of the African Youth Cup at the expense of Cameroon."
The Moroccan national team for under 17 years has secured a spot in the semi-finals of the African Youth Cup, following their victory over the Cameroonian team with a score of one goal to nil, in the quarter-final match that took place this Sunday evening at the Mohammed VI Football Complex. The "Atlas Cubs" continue their successful journey in defending their continental title.
The only goal of the match came early, specifically in the 17th minute, through player Mohamed Habib Zenibi, who capitalized on a precise pass from his teammate Elyan Hadidi and placed the ball in the net, giving the Moroccan team a valuable lead that they maintained until the final whistle.
The task was not easy against a Cameroonian team that proved to be a strong and tough opponent, as they created several scoring opportunities. However, the alertness of the Moroccan goalkeeper and the solidity of the defensive line prevented any equalizer, allowing the national team to maintain their lead and secure a ticket to the semi-finals.
The "Atlas Cubs" began their campaign in the tournament with a draw against the Tunisian team, with a score of one goal each, before raising their performance in the second round by achieving an important victory over the Ethiopian team with a score of two to one, which provided the national players with a morale boost and additional confidence to continue competing.
The Moroccan team continued their positive results in the group stage, having defeated the Egyptian team with the same score (2-1), finishing the first round at the top of Group A with seven points, confirming their great ambition to go far in the competition.
The national youth team hopes to continue their streak of positive results in the upcoming rounds, aiming to retain their continental title, given the good levels displayed by the "Atlas Cubs" since the start of the tournament.
