Algeria exits the "Youth Cup" in Morocco.
The Tanzanian U-17 national team secured a spot in the semi-finals of the African Youth Cup today, Sunday, after defeating the Algerian team in the quarter-finals through a penalty shootout with a score of four to three, following a thrilling draw of three goals each at the end of regular time.
The first half of this continental clash ended in a positive draw of two goals each, as the Algerian team took the lead early on, specifically in the fourth minute through Mohamed Falmi. The Tanzanian team equalized in the 25th minute with a goal from Dismas Athenasi, before Falmi returned to give Algeria the lead with a second goal in the 40th minute. However, Luqman Mbala Salo refused to let his team go into halftime behind, scoring the equalizer for Tanzania just before the whistle for the end of the first half.
In the second half, the excitement continued as the Tanzanian team managed to take the lead for the first time by scoring the third goal in the 59th minute through Dismas Athenasi. The Algerian team quickly responded with an equalizer in the 65th minute from Nouam Ben Ramadan, and the score remained unchanged until the end of the ninety minutes, before luck smiled on the Tanzanian team with a score of four to three in the penalties.
