Hassan II Stadium is nearing readiness.
The Spanish sports newspaper "AS" reported on Saturday that the construction of the Grand Hassan II Stadium in Casablanca, which is set to be one of the largest sports facilities in the world, is progressing at a rapid pace.
The newspaper, which is the first Iberian media outlet to visit the construction site, highlighted that this infrastructure, which will accommodate 115,000 spectators, enhances Morocco's position as a prominent candidate to host major matches in the 2030 World Cup.
The Spanish daily explained that the construction progress has reached 40 percent, with the stadium expected to be delivered in December 2027. It added that the site currently employs about 5,000 workers, and the number is expected to rise to 10,000 during peak phases.
The newspaper also emphasized the strong involvement of the national economic fabric, noting that all companies contributing to the realization of this project are Moroccan firms.
This sports edifice, designed by the Moroccan firm "Oualalou + Choi" in partnership with the international company "Populous," features massive architecture consisting of three stacked levels, accommodating 22,600, 30,600, and 62,000 seats, respectively.
In addition to its exceptional capacity, the stadium offers high-level hospitality services, including about 9,000 seats designated for VIPs and very important persons, which has drawn the interest of the International Football Federation (FIFA), according to the same source.
This project is part of a vision for post-World Cup development, focusing on sustainability and territorial development, as it goes beyond the sporting aspect to include the creation of a comprehensive urban hub that includes, in particular, new infrastructure for roads and railways.
Unlike historical stadiums that are often limited by their urban surroundings, the Grand Hassan II Stadium benefits from a modern design built from scratch, meeting the highest standards set by international sports bodies.
According to "AS," FIFA is closely monitoring the progress of this strategic project, which is also expected to include spaces dedicated to the international body, reflecting Morocco's ambition to provide a reference global football experience.
