"Ziyech's hat-trick" leads Wydad to defeat Hassania and chase the top of the league.
The Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech led his team Wydad Athletic Club to a valuable victory against Hassania Agadir with a score of three goals to two, in the match that took place this evening at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, as part of the 21st round of the professional league competition.
Wydad entered the match strongly in search of an early lead, succeeding in opening the scoring in the 33rd minute through Hakim Ziyech from the penalty spot, giving the red team the advantage.
Hassania Agadir did not take long to respond, as Ismail Hriela managed to equalize in the 37th minute with a header that found the back of Wydad's net, ending the first half with a positive draw.
In the second half, Wydad returned to assert its dominance, regaining the lead in the 59th minute through Ziyech from the penalty spot, after the referee referred to the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to award the penalty.
Ziyech continued to shine in the match, scoring his third personal goal and for his team in the 68th minute with a powerful shot after a remarkable individual effort, completing the "hat-trick" that secured the victory for Wydad.
In the final minutes, Hassania Agadir managed to reduce the deficit, as Abdullah Ait Braim scored the second goal in the 88th minute from a direct free kick, but the remaining minutes saw no further changes, ending the match with Wydad Athletic Club winning three goals to two.
With this victory, Wydad Athletic Club temporarily rose to third place in the professional league standings with 40 points, just one point behind the leaders, Maghreb Fez, while Hassania Agadir's tally remained at 20 points in twelfth place.
