Cardoso: The level of the Royal Army is high.
Miguel Cardoso, the coach of the South African football team Mamelodi Sundowns, said today, Saturday in Rabat, that he is well aware of the high level of the Royal Army team that they will face in the return leg of the African Champions League final.
Cardoso explained at the press conference preceding the return final match against the Royal Army, scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, that reaching the final came after overcoming strong opponents in the previous knockout rounds.
The Portuguese coach added that reaching the final is a source of pride, expressing his hope to continue the adventure until the end and to win the title that the players have prepared well for and have made great efforts to achieve what the club has been striving for over the past ten years.
For his part, Ronwen Williams, the Sundowns goalkeeper, stated that his team has reached the final on four occasions, “and I hope the door opens tomorrow,” highlighting the tremendous effort that “we have put in over the past few years.”
Williams emphasized that winning the title means a lot to the club, and “we will try to learn from the mistakes we made in the last edition,” which was won by the Egyptian team Pyramids, expressing his happiness to return again and reach this important point in the tournament.
It is worth mentioning that the first leg of the African Champions League final, held in Pretoria, ended with Mamelodi Sundowns defeating the Moroccan Royal Army by one goal to none (1-0).
