African Beach Soccer Cup in Senegal
The Confederation of African Football announced in an official statement the selection of Senegal to host the African Beach Soccer Championship in 2026. This decision came after the approval of the executive committee of the continental body.
The statement clarified that this choice reflects the great confidence that the Confederation of African Football has in Senegal's capabilities to successfully host major sporting events, and in appreciation of the country's effective contribution to the development and growth of beach soccer within the African continent, especially since Senegal previously hosted the 2021 edition.
The Senegalese national team sits atop the game continentally, holding a record of winning the title five consecutive times, the latest being the 2024 edition held in Egypt, making it a formidable force in this sport in Africa.
The continental championship will witness the participation of the best eight African teams in beach soccer, competing for the coveted title alongside the pursuit of direct qualification spots for the Beach Soccer World Cup scheduled to take place in 2027.
