Pretoria security forces assault supporters of the army.
The "Ultras Military," the cheering faction of the Royal Army Club, condemned what the team's fans experienced during their trip to South Africa to watch the match between the club and its host Mamelodi Sundowns, which took place today, Sunday, as part of the first leg of the African Champions League final, ending with a victory for the hosts by one goal to none.
The faction expressed in a statement its condemnation of "the assaults that the military fans faced from the South African security, which resulted in numerous injuries and cases of fainting among the supporters, in scenes that have nothing to do with the spirit of sports or the values of continental competitions."
The same source continued: "We are also astonished by the way we are treated abroad, in stark contrast to the respect and warm welcome given to foreigners within our territory, which raises more than one question mark about the criteria used in dealing with Moroccan fans."
The faction emphasized in the same statement its firm rejection of "all forms of provocation and unjustified violence directed at fans who traveled solely to support their team and raise their country's flag, calling on the relevant authorities to take responsibility for protecting Moroccan supporters and preserving their dignity both inside and outside the country," wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
It is worth noting that the return match will be held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat next Sunday, starting at 8 PM.
