The Royal Army Club loses the first leg of the African Champions League final in Pretoria.
Mamelodi Sundowns defeated the Royal Army with a score of one goal to nil today, Sunday, in the first leg of the African Champions League final, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.
The first half began with a back-and-forth battle between the two sides, as the South African team attempted to score an early goal, while the "soldiers" adopted a counter-attacking style.
After several attempts from both sides, Sundowns managed to open the scoring through player Aubrey Modiba in the 37th minute, from a free kick that left goalkeeper Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti with no chance.
After the South African goal, the "military" team tried to equalize, but they were unable to achieve their goal, ending the first half with Sundowns leading by one goal to nil.
The start of the second half of the match between Mamelodi Sundowns and the Royal Army was delayed due to a technical issue with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system.
In the second half, the Royal Army changed their playing style by pushing more into the South African team's areas in an attempt to score the equalizer, while Sundowns remained dangerous through counter-attacks.
Neither team was able to find the net during the remaining minutes of the match, resulting in Mamelodi Sundowns winning with a clean sheet against the Royal Army.
