Tanger Union eliminates the Kenitra club.
The Tangier Union team secured their place with great difficulty in the Round of 16 of the Throne Cup, after defeating their host, the Kenitra Club, with a score of 2-1, following two extra time periods, in the thrilling match that took place today, Sunday, on the grounds of the Grand Tangier Stadium, as part of the Round of 16, after the original ninety minutes ended in a positive draw of 1-1.
The Tangier team was the first to open the scoring early, as player Bilal Al-Wadghiri succeeded in shaking the net of the hosts in the eighth minute of the first half.
In the final moments of the match, while the confrontation was heading towards a victory for the guests, the Kenitra Club managed to snatch a last-minute equalizer in the 90th minute through player Issam Al-Farsi, bringing the match to extra time.
The fierce contest continued between the two teams in extra time, until the Tangier Union succeeded in settling the matter in their favor by scoring the decisive qualification goal in the 119th minute, advancing to the next round and confirming their resurgence, while the Kenitra Club tasted the bitterness of early elimination, and their cycle of negative results continued.
