The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that the draw for the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations "Kenya - Tanzania - Uganda 2027" will take place on May 19, starting at 3 PM local time in Cairo (12:00 GMT), at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
The draw is expected to determine the path for the 48 teams participating in the qualifiers, including the three host countries of the tournament, which are Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
CAF clarified that the continental tournament will officially kick off on June 19, 2027, with the final match scheduled for July 17, 2027.
The 48 teams will be divided into 12 groups, each consisting of four teams, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the finals, while groups that include one of the host countries will be granted an additional qualification spot.
CAF also revealed the dates for the qualifying windows, which will take place in three phases within the FIFA calendar, with the first and second rounds scheduled from September 21 to October 6, 2026, the third and fourth rounds from November 9 to 17, 2026, and the fifth and sixth rounds from March 22 to 30, 2027.
