"Barcelona" confirms Lewandowski's departure.
FC Barcelona, the champion of La Liga, announced the departure of its Polish striker Robert Lewandowski from the team at the end of the current season.
The "Blaugrana" wrote on their official account on "X": "He came as a star... and leaves as a legend," and continued speaking about their player Lewandowski, who is 37 years old: "Thank you, Robert Lewandowski, for every goal, every battle, and every magical moment while wearing the shirt; Barcelona will remain in your heart forever."
For his part, the player wrote a farewell message on his Instagram account saying: "It is time for me to move on... the mission has been accomplished."
He added: "4 seasons, 3 league titles, I will never forget the love I received from the fans; Catalonia has a place in my heart. Thank you to everyone I met during this time, and thank you to Laporta, the club president, who allowed me to experience one of the most special periods in my professional career."
Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in July 2022, after playing 375 matches with Bayern, during which he scored 344 goals and assisted 73 goals, according to the statistical site "Transfermarkt." He also won the majority of titles in his career with the German club, most notably the UEFA Champions League.
The Polish international striker played 191 matches wearing the Barcelona shirt, scoring 119 goals and assisting 24 goals.
Lewandowski's contract with Barcelona was set to expire at the end of the current season, and the player did not reach an agreement regarding the extension of his contract. Several media reports, including "Marca," have previously confirmed that the Spanish club's management did not negotiate with the player regarding renewing his contract.
According to reports, Lewandowski's name has been linked with a move to the Saudi league, particularly to Al Hilal, which is looking to strengthen its squad with new players, in addition to the possibility of moving to the American league as well.
