Wahbi: There is no limit to World Cup ambitions.

The national coach, Mohamed Wahbi, stated that the Moroccan national team will prepare well for the 2026 World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, as part of a technical project aimed at building a clear playing identity and forming a group capable of competing at the highest level.

Wahbi explained, in an interview with the Moroccan sports channel "Arriyadia," that the last preparatory camp, which included two friendly matches against Ecuador and Paraguay, was an important milestone in the preparation process, highlighting that it allowed the technical staff to evaluate the players and assess their understanding of the initial tactical ideas.

The national coach added that the team faced two different styles during the friendlies, encountering high pressure and physical strength against Ecuador, while facing an opponent that relied on defensive organization and counterattacks against Paraguay, noting that this diversity provided the technical staff with clearer data regarding the group's performance.

Wahbi emphasized that the national team showed gradual improvement between the two matches, both in terms of organization and control of the pace of play, confirming that the goal is not limited to results, but rather to build a team that understands the flow of the game and acts consistently in various situations.

In discussing his tactical philosophy, Wahbi highlighted that it is based on flexibility and not rigidity, explaining that possession is not the only criterion for judging performance; rather, the most important aspect is how to utilize the ball and impose effectiveness on the field.

The national coach confirmed that the door to the national team remains open to all players, indicating that selections will be based on readiness and performance, not on names or reputation, with close monitoring of nearly 55 players on the expanded list.

He emphasized that the technical staff relies on continuous analytical work of the players' performances, along with studying the harmony between the elements, in order to reach the best possible composition before the World Cup, despite the difficulty of selections and the closeness of levels.
