Flick will stay at Barcelona for two more years.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick confirmed on Tuesday that he has signed a new two-year contract with the Spanish football champions, which includes an option to extend for a third season.
The 61-year-old German coach had led the Catalan club to the league title for the second consecutive time after defeating their traditional rival Real Madrid 2-0 on Sunday.
Flick said at the press conference ahead of his team's visit to Alaves on Wednesday in the league, "Of course, I am very happy; this gives me the confidence to continue working for another year or two."
He added, "I think many coaches would be happy to sign a contract for three, four, or five years, but in this case, with Barcelona, I see it as good to keep it short-term, and I appreciate that."
He continued, "We will continue until 2028. If things go well, we will decide to continue. I have the right to stop, as does the club."
Flick joined Barcelona in the summer of 2024, and during his two seasons with the club, he has won two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups.
However, the Champions League, which Flick won in 2020 with his former club Bayern Munich, has eluded him since arriving in Catalonia.
Barcelona exited the competition this season in the quarter-finals at the hands of Atletico Madrid, after having lost last season to Inter Milan 7-6 on aggregate in the semi-finals.
Flick stated that it is also "a commitment on our part to work harder than we did this season, if possible, and to continue to rise to the highest possible level with the team, achieve new goals, and win new titles."
He added, "This is important for Barcelona, because everyone has the dream of winning the Champions League. We tried, and we will try again, and that's all I can say."
