The Moroccan polo team won the title of the sixth edition of the Mohammed VI International Polo Cup, after defeating their American counterparts with a score of 9-5, in the final match held today, Sunday, at the Royal Guard Polo Club in Rabat.
From the start of the match, the Moroccan team, the defending champions, imposed their rhythm on the game and managed to make a difference at the crucial moments of the encounter.
The national players dominated the first round with a score of 3-1, secured the second half with a score of 5-2, and concluded the third round at 8-3, finishing the match in their favor with a score of 9-5.
The "Atlas Lions Polo" team began their participation in this sporting event by winning against the Hungarian team, before overcoming the Portuguese team, which finished in third place after defeating the French team.
In a statement to the press, Moroccan polo player Sidi Mohammed Al-Mohammadi expressed his happiness with this victory, while also praising the qualities of the American team. He added that this match reflects the good relationship between Morocco and the United States of America.
At the end of this competition, Moulay Abdallah Al-Alawi, President of the Royal Moroccan Equestrian Federation, presented the trophy to the captain of the national team.
This match was notably attended by General Abdel Aziz Shater, Commander of the Royal Guard and President of the Royal Moroccan Polo Federation, and Mohamed El Yaacoubi, Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region and Governor of Rabat.
This international sporting event, organized by the Royal Moroccan Polo Federation under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, featured the participation of six polo teams, including the Moroccan national team, alongside teams from countries with a prestigious reputation in this sport, namely the United States, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, and France.
This event is an opportunity to compete with the top international schools in the sport of polo, offering enthusiasts of this sport a week full of passion and competitive spirit.
