"The Nashama" loses Al-Naimat and Al-Quraishi.
Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein, President of the Jordan Football Association, revealed on Thursday that Yazan Al-Naimat and Adham Al-Quraishi, stars of the "Nashama" national team, will not participate in the 2026 World Cup due to injury.
Prince Ali wrote in a tweet on the "X" platform: "We have followed with great appreciation the tremendous efforts made by Yazan Al-Naimat and Adham Al-Quraishi during their treatment and rehabilitation journey over the past months, and their sincere desire to join the 'Nashama' in the World Cup, but injury has deprived them this time."
The President of the Jordan Football Association added in another post: "We wish them both a full recovery and a stronger return to represent Jordan in the Asian Cup. The Nashama are always up to the dream and responsibility, and we are all confident in their ability to honor Jordan in the World Cup."
Al-Naimat and Al-Quraishi have been absent from the Jordan national team since late last year, after suffering ACL tears during the Arab Cup competition held in the Qatari capital, Doha, and both underwent surgery at Aspetar Hospital.
Al-Naimat, a forward for Al-Arabi in Qatar who scored 26 goals in 70 matches for the Nashama, was injured against Iraq in the quarter-finals, while Al-Quraishi was injured against Morocco in the final match.
Al-Naimat and Al-Quraishi contributed to Jordan's qualification for the World Cup finals for the first time, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Jordanian national team will face Austria, Algeria, and Argentina in the first round, within Group 10.
