Akkad is undergoing a treatment program in Morocco.
The French football club Olympique Marseille announced that Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd is allowed to return to Morocco to continue his treatment and rehabilitation program, in coordination with the medical staff of the Moroccan national team, due to his ongoing struggle with an injury that ended his season.
The French club clarified in an official statement that the Moroccan defender will continue his rehabilitation phase under the supervision of the "Atlas Lions" medical staff, without disclosing additional details.
Aguerd is suffering from a groin injury, which has caused him to miss matches for Olympique Marseille this season. It also led him to undergo surgery last March after experiencing prolonged pain.
The Moroccan international has not been able to appear regularly with the French team this season due to the repercussions of the injury; he has only made limited appearances, at a time when the club was counting on him to secure the backline and benefit from his vast experience.
Aguerd hopes to fully regain his physical fitness in the upcoming period, especially since he has set his sights on returning to the pitch and participating with the Moroccan national team in the upcoming World Cup, after the difficult phase he experienced due to the injury and surgery.
