Intense anger among Wydad club members.
Members of Wydad Athletic Club launched a fierce attack on the current management board, describing its latest statement as merely an attempt to market a "booby-trapped resignation" in a facade of democratic formality, announcing their outright rejection of what they termed "administrative nonsense" that threatens the stability of the red fortress.
The "Wydad Parliament," in a strongly worded statement, considered the "resignation with continuation" formula to be a blatant maneuver to postpone a decision and maintain control until the general assembly, asserting that it is neither legally nor logically permissible for a "resigned" board to oversee the selection of its successor, as this entails a conflict of interest that undermines the principle of neutrality.
In a related context, the members expressed their astonishment at the opening of membership for the 2026/2027 season by a board in the process of leaving, describing this step as a "suspicious descent" in "stoppage time." The statement accused the board of attempting to manipulate the electoral map to leave a "heir" who ensures the continuation of the same current approach, warning against replicating failed experiences that have led other national clubs to ruin.
The body formed by the members also criticized what it described as a "time-wasting tactic" by deliberately omitting the date of the electoral general assembly and clinging to "flexible" procedures to circumvent the law, emphasizing that these procedures are the same ones that have produced the current crisis the club is experiencing today.
In light of this situation, Wydad members outlined a set of urgent demands, foremost among them the actual and final departure of the current board, along with the formation of an independent temporary committee to manage affairs free from any external influences, and ensuring a genuine transfer of power that breaks away from "remote control" practices.
The statement also called for the immediate announcement of the date of the general assembly and the cessation of any membership processes that raise suspicions, limiting them to legal frameworks that ensure equal opportunities among all candidates, in order to guarantee the club's exit from the "tunnel" of administrative ambiguity that has overshadowed it recently.
