Shadira revives Lecce's hopes of survival.
Moroccan international Walid Cheddira confirmed that teamwork and team spirit were the keys to Lecce's victory over Pisa with a score of 2-1, in the Italian league, in a match that had a direct impact on the relegation battle.
The Moroccan striker, on loan from Napoli, played a crucial role in this victory, providing the assist for the first goal to his Zambian teammate Lameck Banda, before returning to score the winning goal, giving his team three valuable points. This win not only revived Lecce's hopes of avoiding relegation but also contributed to confirming Pisa's drop to the second division.
In his statements after the match, Cheddira said: βI was very emotional; it was a moment full of feelings. We make great sacrifices, and we all want to win and collect points. We work hard to make the fans happy, and after this period of training camp, we succeeded in bringing joy to them.β
He added: βAfter the goal, I said thank God, because this feeling is indescribable. I wasn't paying attention to the fact that I was substituted; all I cared about was helping the team. The performance was collective, and this spirit has always been present among us.β
Cheddira concluded his statements by saying: βI am proud of the team, and I dedicate this goal to my family and my wife who have always been by my side in difficult times; their support was very important to me,β confirming that this victory could be a turning point in his team's journey for the remainder of the season.
It is worth noting that Cheddira was present with the Moroccan national team in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they finished in fourth place, before being absent from international participation since 2023.
